Course Description

Target Audience:  Analysts, records and sworn law enforcement personnel responsible for
reviewing, reporting or analyzing NIBRS information.

Description:

This course is designed for personnel seeking a complete understanding of NIBRS and how to utilize the data collected to create reports to understand crime and victimization and identify data quality issues. Students will gain knowledge of key NIBRS concepts (jurisdiction/time and place/definition of an incident), counting of offenses and clearances, data utilization, data quality, offense classification, and data elements through a variety of lectures and hands-on exercises.
